Knight's Communications started
in Fort Worth, Texas in 1948 to provide two-way radio communications service to The Fort
Worth Transit Company. Over the years, the business expanded and gained a
reputation for honest and reputable work. In 1953, KCI became an authorized warranty
service center for General Electric Mobile Communications and in 1969, we
became an authorized service depot for handheld portable radios.
The business changed ownership in 1989 and grew five times
over during the next three years. We expanded our local radio system coverage and
opened an office in Dallas to handle our increased customer base.
In 1993, we sold our local radio systems and day-to-day
sales and service operation and concentrated on installing and maintaining
EDACS® trunked radio systems. We have gained a
solid reputation for consistently superior performance for work both domestic and
international.
In 1996, we expanded our efforts into the
fiber optic broadcast and
professional audio markets. We believe that the Fibox products from Sundance
Systems and matrix switchers from Lighthouse Digital are the
best available products in this exciting field. We have signed some excellent sales
agents to cover China and South Korea and have represented Fibox in China during several
international trade shows, BIRTV '96, IBA '97 and BIRTV '98-2000.
1998 was an exciting year as we added more capability to
our broadcast area. We added an excellent cable manufacturer, Mohawk/CDT,
to our market basket. We can now quote directly from the manufacturer to you with
standard or custom cable designs. We also gained two manufacturers in the digital
video field. AJA Video Systems and Ensemble Designs
are both located in Grass Valley, California and are descendants of the Grass Valley
Group. We also installed our first data LAN system.
1999 finds us able to compete again in the Dallas/Fort
Worth area as our non-compete clause from 1993 has expired. We are excited about
growing our local presence and getting back into day-to-day service. |
